At a Glance
Miami Gardens operates 21 parks and recreational facilities under a dedicated Parks & Recreation Department — from the 24-acre Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex to small neighborhood greens like Cloverleaf Park and Jordan's Landing. A $60 million general obligation bond approved by residents in 2014 funded sweeping renovations across the system, and 2026 brings the city's newest additions: the rebuilt Scott Park, six brand-new pickleball courts near 32nd Avenue, and an artificial turf football field at Walt Frazier Park. Contact the department at (305) 622-8080 or register for programs at ACTIVENet.

Miami Gardens' biggest park, completely transformed under the $60M bond program into a spectacular community hub. Nestled beneath a canopy of oak trees with a full suite of outdoor recreation and the city's first dedicated pickleball courts. Monthly food truck nights draw crowds year-round.
Reopened in May 2021 after a complete rebuild under the bond program. The two-story alternative sports building (14,000+ sq ft) is one of the most impressive neighborhood rec centers in North Miami-Dade, with an indoor elevated running track, Wi-Fi throughout, and surveillance cameras linked to the city's Real-Time Crime Center.
Buccaneer Park was completely demolished and rebuilt as part of the bond program — one of the most dramatic park transformations in the city. The standout feature is its splash pad, designed for all ages with state-of-the-art water equipment and automation. Also the site near which the city's new 6 dedicated pickleball courts are being built in 2026.
An impressive 38,000 square foot multi-use facility designed for seniors, families, and active adults. The illuminated botanical walking trail surrounds the building and features exotic fruits and plants. A destination for wellness, social connection, and lifelong learning.
One of Miami Gardens' largest community parks. Named for NBA legend Walt "Clyde" Frazier, who has deep roots in the community. A new artificial turf football field was installed in early 2026 in partnership with Miami-Dade County and the Orange Bowl Committee.
What's New in 2026 🎉
Miami Gardens has an active slate of park improvements underway. Here's what residents and visitors can expect this year.
Scott Park Renovation — 9.7 Acres Rebuilt
Address: 17710 NW 15th Court, Miami Gardens, FL 33169 · Phone: (305) 621-5932
Scott Park is currently closed for major renovations. The project was awarded to Bejar Construction in August 2024 and is expected to open in 2026 with a comprehensive set of new and rebuilt amenities including a new community building, updated playground, basketball court, baseball/softball diamond, and football field. When completed, Scott Park will serve the neighborhoods in its surrounding area with a fully modern recreational facility across its nearly 10 acres.
6 Dedicated Pickleball Courts — Groundbreaking October 2025
Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Gardens officially broke ground on six brand-new dedicated pickleball courts near 32nd Avenue in October 2025, built by Sports Surfaces, a national sports construction firm. Mayor Rodney Harris was on hand, noting the city's commitment to giving residents access to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
These courts join existing pickleball at Rolling Oaks Park and programming at the Senior Family Center, cementing Miami Gardens as a growing hub for the sport in North Miami-Dade.
Also new in 2026: New pickleball courts at Buccaneer Park (in partnership with Miami-Dade County), a new artificial turf football field at Walt Frazier Park (Orange Bowl Committee partnership), and a new one-story recreation center at North Dade Optimist Park. AJ King Park is in permitting, with construction expected to follow.
