The Barnacle Historic State Park is a captivating tourist attraction, museum, and park located at 3485 Main Hwy, Miami, FL 33133. This former Victorian estate encompasses a 5-acre bayfront park, boasting a serene mangrove forest and a historic Old Florida house. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy simple pleasures such as outdoor concerts, picnics on the lawn, and tranquil walks along tree-lined paths, or to simply relax and watch sailboats from the spacious front porch. The original house, designed by Ralph Middleton Munroe, the first Commodore of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, was named “The Barnacle” due to its roof’s resemblance to the mollusk. Although the original boathouse was destroyed by the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926, Munroe meticulously rebuilt it later that same year, applying lessons learned from the storm’s impact. The park is open Friday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers an enriching historical and natural experience for all visitors.
