Election 2026: 10 Things Miami Gardens Voters Need to Know Before November 3
By MiamiGardens.com Editorial • • 6 min read
Early voting ends Sunday, November 1, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
The 2026 election is almost here. Early voting wraps up this Sunday, and Election Day is next Tuesday. Whether you vote early, by mail, or at the polls, here are 10 things every Miami Gardens voter should know before casting a ballot.
Early voting: through Sunday, November 1, starting at 7:00 a.m. daily. Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mail ballots: must be received by 7:00 p.m. on November 3.
1. You have four days left to vote early
Early voting runs through Sunday, November 1, at 28 sites across Miami-Dade County. You can vote at any of them, no matter where you live in the county.
2. The early voting site in Miami Gardens is North Dade Regional Library
The library at 2455 NW 183rd Street is the only early voting site inside city limits. Nearby options include the Miami Lakes Community Center, Arcola Lakes Branch Library, and North Miami Public Library. See our early voting guide for addresses.
3. On Election Day, you must go to your assigned polling place
Unlike early voting, on Tuesday, November 3, you can only vote at the polling place assigned to your address. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Find yours on your voter information card or through the Miami-Dade County Elections Department.
4. Bring a photo ID with your signature
Bring a current photo ID that includes your signature, such as a Florida driver license or Florida ID card. If your photo ID has no signature, bring a second ID that does.
5. If you're voting by mail, return your ballot now
Mail ballots must be received, not just postmarked, by 7:00 p.m. on November 3. With only days left, it is safest to drop yours off in person at any early voting site during early voting hours rather than mailing it. Sign the envelope, and track your ballot with the Elections Department to confirm it was received.
6. Your ballot is long, so preview it
Beyond federal and state races, every Miami-Dade voter will see three statewide constitutional amendments, six county charter amendments, and a school tax renewal. Look up your sample ballot before you go. Our local ballot questions explainer walks through all seven local questions.
7. Amendment 3 could change property taxes
Amendment 3 would raise the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes and needs at least 60% of the vote to pass. The City of Miami Gardens estimates it could lose about $9.7 million in the first year if it passes. Read our Amendment 3 explainer for both sides.
8. Some Miami Gardens voters will decide the Seat 4 runoff
Voters in the city's Seat 4 area will choose between Mykita Cherry-Prime and Rod Mack for City Council. Many Miami Gardens voters will also see the School Board District 1 runoff. Our Miami Gardens voter guide covers the candidates.
9. Clocks fall back on Sunday
Daylight saving time ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, the last day of early voting. Set your clocks back an hour Saturday night so you don't show up an hour early or late.
10. You can get a free ride around the city
Freebee offers free rides within its Miami Gardens service area from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. If your early voting site or polling place is inside the zone, it could be a free way to get there. See our Freebee guide.
Contact the Miami-Dade County Elections Department to check your registration, find your polling place, view your sample ballot, or track your mail ballot.
