Miami Gardens operates 21 parks and recreational facilities under a dedicated Parks & Recreation Department — from the 24-acre Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex to small neighborhood greens like Cloverleaf Park and Jordan's Landing. A $60 million general obligation bond approved by residents in 2014 funded sweeping renovations across the system, and 2026 brings the city's newest additions: the rebuilt Scott Park, six brand-new pickleball courts near 32nd Avenue, and an artificial turf football field at Walt Frazier Park. Contact the department at (305) 622-8080 or register for programs at ACTIVENet.

These five facilities are the anchors of Miami Gardens' parks system — each offering multiple sports courts, programming, pools, or community space that serve thousands of residents every week.

6 Dedicated Pickleball Courts — Groundbreaking October 2025

Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Gardens officially broke ground on six brand-new dedicated pickleball courts near 32nd Avenue in October 2025, built by Sports Surfaces, a national sports construction firm. Mayor Rodney Harris was on hand, noting the city's commitment to giving residents access to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.

These courts join existing pickleball at Rolling Oaks Park and programming at the Senior Family Center, cementing Miami Gardens as a growing hub for the sport in North Miami-Dade.

Also new in 2026: New pickleball courts at Buccaneer Park (in partnership with Miami-Dade County), a new artificial turf football field at Walt Frazier Park (Orange Bowl Committee partnership), and a new one-story recreation center at North Dade Optimist Park. AJ King Park is in permitting, with construction expected to follow.
