The city was first named "Town of Miami Shores," then renamed "Town of North Miami" in 1931, and finally reincorporated as a city in 1953. Through decades of growth, North Miami has evolved into the seventh-largest city in Miami-Dade County, celebrated for its cultural diversity, contemporary art scene, and abundant natural resources.
