The Historic Ward Rooming House, built in 1925 by Shaddrack and Victoria Ward, is a significant historical landmark located in Miami’s Overtown at 249 NW 9th Street. Designated a historic site by the City of Miami in 2006, it served as a safe haven and resting place for both Black and Native American individuals. Today, it functions as the official Visitor Center of Overtown and also houses a gallery and exhibition hall, central to the area’s redeveloping shopping, dining, and entertainment district.
